Petrobangla chairman accused of foiling RPGCL board meet
United News of Bangladesh . Dhaka
Petrobangla chairman Professor Hossain Mansur and Rupantarita Prakritik Gas Company Ltd chairman Syed Abdul Malek again were locked in tussle over the control of the RPGCL business affairs.
The RPGCL is a subsidiary company of the Petrobangla, but it has a separate and independent board of directors under an independent chairman.
The government through a gazette notification also provided full autonomy to the RPGCL management to run its business affairs. Still the Petrobangla has the authority to appoint and transfer some senior officials of RPGCL and other subsidiary companies within their own peripheries.
As the head of the principal organisation, the Petrobangla chairman is also a director of the RPGCL board.
On allegations lodged by the RPGCL, the energy ministry recently curtailed some of the authoritarian powers of the Petrobangla chairman regarding the appointment and transfer of the RPGCL officials. But it failed to put an end to the conflicts between the chairmen of Petrobangla and RPGCL. Rather, the conflicts seemed to have widened.
